Why should you choose Paris over Portugal? Many Americans have been drawn into the fantasy of living in Portugal recently. But equal numbers have been waking up to the horror of rainy weather and deserted travel options. This is why Americans are choosing to retire with massive connectivity, sophistication and robust healthcare in France.

Portugals central coast is magical in May – Oct. seasons. Full stop. No denying that.
But, few people talk about the mold issues in Central Coast of Portugal where many Americans are moving. Even in Summer on sunny, hot windy days, the clothes never dry fully unless in the sun and picked up before sundown. You cannot leave to fly out for vacation (flying is the only option many times, BTW) without packing all of your stuff up very clean and very dry and in storage tubs (even shoes, bedding sheets…pillows, everything gets white spots and will grow into a huge alien science experiment).

You may not believe this – but life is planned around laundry/rotating laundry, sunny days and getting home (in August) before the sun is down or YES YOU GUESSED IT – TORRENTIAL RAINS and dry clothes become wet again.
Summer evenings, your bedding can still feel like a damp beach towel laying on it after a swim. This is not like the way we live in the US. Laundry is a continuously planned event. Need jeans for Sat. night? Start on Wednesday with good weather.
Dryers are a useless rotating box with panel to spin water (3 hours to dry anything). AND USELESS.
THIS IS THE PART THAT NO ONE TELLS YOU AND WHY YOU NEED TO CONSIDER FRANCE OR ANOTHER CONNECTED COUNTRY! – Train travel is not what you would get in France. When you buy an apartment in Paris, you are only a handful of hours from many, many beautiful places. Paris has rain, yes and their dryers are not much better, but you have connectivity to the entire world and many places by train. MAKE NO MISTAKE, PORTUGAL IS A REMOTE ISOLATED PLACE.
In winter, neon green mold creeps several feet, up the outside of your house walls and inside too. Even with a very solidly built home. Many people have written about this online and this research can be confirmed if you look online.
In the winter, it pours rain and most recently storms raging up to 100 mph. You need heat, it’s damp cold. It is a different kind of air. SO, if you have mold or mold sensitivities, you may want to consider this because when you watch these sunny Portugal videos with a pretty beach & sunset & castles.
Consider the big picture and choose connectivity, sophistication and robust healthcare like you will have in Paris. Let us help you find the best place for you in Paris!
