One Day In Paris: A relaxed Louvre-area walking tour of Paris
You only have a day in Paris and you are going to be near the Louvre. We have the perfect recommendation for a great walking tour!

Let’s assume you have done the Louvre or you just want to wander around Paris. The Paris Buyers Agents Group likes to share the hidden, insider sites for our clients. With time estimates and places to snack along the way, we recommend this compact walking loop near the Louvre. The city itself highlights these covered galleries as hidden architectural treasures.
Galerie Véro-Dodat — 9:30 AM
- Walk from the Louvre: about 5–7 min
- A tiny, elegant 19th-century covered passage with a striking black-and-white marble floor, old-fashioned storefronts, and a much quieter feel than the Louvre itself.
- Allow 20–30 min.
- Snack: Grab a coffee and pastry around the Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau / Palais Royal area rather than eating at a big tourist café.
Galerie Vivienne + Galerie Colbert — 11:00 AM
- Walk from Véro-Dodat: about 10–12 min
- Galerie Vivienne is the prettier of the two: mosaic floors, glass roof, rotunda and little boutiques. Galerie Colbert next door is quieter and more architectural, with a beautiful glass-domed rotunda.
- Allow 45–60 min.
- Snack: This is a good spot for a proper pâtisserie/tea stop; there are cafés and food shops within the galleries and immediately around them. P
Passage du Grand-Cerf — 1:30 PM
- Walk from Galerie Vivienne: about 12–15 min
- This is the one I’d particularly recommend if you want something that feels secret. Its enormous 12-meter-high glass roof makes it dramatically different from the smaller galleries.
- Browse the quirky little shops and artisans and allow 30–45 min.
- Snack/lunch: Continue another 5–8 min to Rue Montorgueil, where you’ll find bakeries, cafés, cheese shops and other food stops. It’s one of the best areas nearby for grazing rather than sitting down for a long lunch.
Wrapping Up
After Rue Montorgueil, I’d walk back toward the Louvre area via Palais Royal, roughly 20–25 min, stopping for another coffee or ice cream if you wish. That gives you a very manageable day without spending the whole day marching between attractions.
Approximate walking total: 50–60 minutes of actual walking, but we would budget 4–6 hours with browsing, snacks and photos.
